Congratulations! We’ve looked high and low for the best toys, books, games, and gadgets for children in preschool through high school. Our panel of teachers, parents, curriculum specialists (and of course kids!) put hundreds of products through their paces to come up with a list of our favorites. We’re happy to report that "Odds Bodkin: The Hidden Grail" has been chosen for our Smart Stuff list—Education.com’s Essential Gift Guide.
For every toy you see on our list, more than three were tossed onto the reject pile. We looked at over 450 products to come up with this collection of 157 winners. To make the list, all our picks had to have learning value, but they also had to have major kid-appeal and staying power. We looked for products that brought school subjects to life, but also gifts that sparked creativity and inspired imagination. We wanted gifts that helped kids grow not just academically, but socially, emotionally, or ethically; gifts that helped stretch the mind, but also the body.
This loot is fun, no doubt about it. But every single item has educational value, and every one is there completely on its own merit, and not because someone paid for it to be considered. Neither marketing nor advertising had any input whatsoever in which products were considered by our independent panel.
